This looks like a redhat problem. RH expects to find AS in /usr/X11R6/bin where the old version lived. Nowdays AS should be in /usr/local/bin at least as a default. /usr/share/afterstep moved to /usr/local/share/afterstep.
Full paths in RH? ugh!
