afterstep is probably not found in your path. If you do:
which afterstep
in a shell it should tell you where it finds afterstep or nothing if it does
not find it at all
If you do:
echo $PATH
you will se what your path looks like. My guess is that if /usr/local/bin is
not in your path you would have this problem. In this case you can always edit
your /etc/profile file.
