Virtual desktop from the X-Server vs, the Pager are two different
things. The X-Server provides a bigger screen which you pan around on by
moving the mouse along the corner - it's a dynamic action. The Pager
provides x number of views to a large desktop which you switch to when
moving the mouse to the edge of the current view. Does this point you to
the correct origin of you situation?
X-Server: under 'Section "Screen"' comment out (#) 'Virtual' in
*all* 'Subsection "Display"s' OR set them equal to the largest resolution
of the 'Modes' above this entry.
Pager: not too sure how the RH bastardized set-up functions -
