After looking at your gif , it appears you have changed the
background pixmap - looks like a grey one ogirinally then the plasma one
after). This is your problem - you only have X number of colours at the
colour depth you are running, if you use most of them in the background,
you don't have many left for the apps. I'd suggest running at 16bpp or
greater for more colors; using the -install option of Netscape [uses it's
own color map (you get a horrid flashing when moving out of this window
however)]; or using less colours in your icons, and reducing the number of
colours in the background. Those screnshots you see with pictures of
forests and streams with a multitude of colours in other apps as well have
graphics cards which allow for 32bpp and/or they have craftly minimized
the number of colours in their icons.
