About X colors

I dont know what happened but the other day I lost all my
colors in X. Sometimes when I start up, I get no color in my
xterm windows and when I shutdown X, I see all these errors
like:
Cannot alocate color entry for white...

and then it lists all these basic colors. Most of the time,
it just looks bad. You can see a picture here of the
difference.

The menu bar buttons are apparently different color modes.
How do I change it back?
