Window Borders?

I'm trying to remove the border for just a single application (x11amp).
The x11amp README file listed a few lines for the database file that it
said were valid for 1.4.x.  However, when I added these lines (I had to
create the file, too), it only sort of worked; sure, x11amp looked great
-- no borders or anything -- but a large remainder of the desktop was
screwed up big time (like the buttons that slide out of Wharf had borders
+ window buttons on them!!).  Anyone know how to do this?
