I had actually thought of this but I wondered if there was a built in
function that would already do this.  i.e. the Pictures directory actually
has nothing in it but it looks in ~/G/L/A/desktop/background to get it's
entries.  I have found this somewhat inconsistent with the rest of AS and
that is why I wondered if there was another way.
