misc config queries

I've just built 1.4.5.55N6 from source and installed same. I'm a long time
user of 1.0, so it is very gratifying to see this great package progress
beyond the roadblock it seemed to encounter at 1.2!

A few questions, IYDM:

1) I can't get EdgeScroll to just turn off. Setting it, in 'feel.DEFAULT', to
0 0 doesn't seem to do the trick. (I prefer to do all moving from screen to
screen via the pager.) Actually, I'm not convinced any changes I've made to
that file have altered anything in the behaviour of the program. Is it correct
to assume that feel.DEFAULT is in fact the default loaded when AS is first
launched?

2) Speaking of the pager, I like it in the upper left corner. But that's where
iconized windows go, apparently. How can I get icons to reside, say, in the
lower left corner?

3) I've lost highlighting of text in editors via the method of holding down
the shift key and using the arrows keys. Any way to get this back?

4) Folders in Wharf seem a bit on the slow side. Can they be speeded up?
