xdm replacements?

Somewhere I saw an XDM replacement for afterstep I believe.  I could be
wrong and could be thinking of Gnome or something (which I just messed
with a few weeks ago).  I can't seem to find it now.  Does anyone know
where I could find it, if it exists?
