Typically the "pre" is considered to be alpha stage -
i.e. pre-beta; but sometimes it's meant to be pre-release - i.e. beta. I
think in the case it is considered to be alpha, since it takes a bit more
to turn it into a working proggie. But then again, if it's an rpm, you'd
think it was "working" :). Nonetheless, I'd still say it was a
development release - Michael Neylon is having fun making these rpms :) -
so it is a rather easy way to use a development release.
