One of the feels causes this problem; it forces the current window to the
top, so that newly created windows don't show up.  I have never been able
to puzzle out exactly which feel it is (but it's for lack of trying; by
the end of August, I think, it'll be fully documented).  I use a
modification of "click-to-focus", which does not suffer this problem.
