AS performance quirks

Has anyone else had quirky problems with AS? After working inside AS
for about 11 hours (!!!) my system had slowed to the point of
annoyance. Screen refreshes began to take longer and longer.

Damn ... "Wharf" just died (yes, coincidentally, it died right this very
moment). I adjusted the CD volume using asmixer and the whole thing
disappeared. I can't see wharf anywhere in "ps" or "top" now. However,
pager is still running.

Speaking of pager... I wanted to have my pager seperate from wharf (4
virtual screens just ain't enough). I modified the autoexec and wharf
files. Exitted the session and restarted it... then it died. It
dropped back to the prompt saying "X: waiting for server to shutdown"
(or something like that). I tried every possible variation in
"autoexec" and "wharf", but it always did the same thing... get up to
the grey thatched screen then drop back to the prompt again.

Any suggestions/solutions for any of the above? Any patches that I
should know about?
