This is set a compile-time. You need to edit configure.h. You want to
change the Animate speed (3 lines) to a _lower_ number. Or shut animation
off.

You need to edit the icon box geometry in your favourite look file. It's
in the "Texts" section.

There are two things you want here. First is the way mouse buttons work
in the Pager (I doubt that's your problem). It can be changed only if
you're willing to play in the source code. More likely, you want to
adjust your "feel" file. Have a look at the new FAQ for a long-ish
discussion of the look and feel files. I don't address exactly what
you're asking, but I think there's enough there for you to get the idea.
