not if you find the configurability of open source software lacking.

not in the way you're thinking, and no. but other programs provide this -
i use kfm with afterstep to get desktop icons, which is quite slick IMO.
some minor wierdities (clicking desktop on icon gives K menu, otherwise
AS)

style?

what you want is probably desktops, not pages. the tic-tac-toe layout is a
desktop, with so many pages. i think in e this is more a desktop thing,
tho i've only looked at it for about fifteen minutes. the docs are (IMO)
pretty confusing on this issue, and i think the .steprc should prolly
discern between them better.

<pink batts>
but i'm not really sure, because i don't use desktops. and i still use a
.steprc because i'm running 1.0.

i saw a prog this monrrning called xanicur on the RPM archives at
rufus.w3.org. christ only knows what it does but i can guess, so maybe
there's hope for your cursor changes. no idea how much processor it'll
want for a single-frame animation, but it's gotta be less than e.

speaking of which: if rastaman (raster?) wrote e and is now working for
RH, making their new sexy (gnome??) desktop, why have they suggested
they'll make AS the default wm for 5.1? if they want to make linux easy
for people to cope with, they're gonna have to commit to a single unified
GUI for a default, and moving from fvwm-?? to AS to e2 ain't the way.

(personally, i'm pushing every newbie i can at KDE, which i think is
great, but i can't stand it myself for a working interface!)
