Sound not working

I have upgraded from 1.4.5.0 to 1.4.5.55N6.
I seem to have lost my sounds and don't
know why. I have made sure that showaudio
is intact and is working. I can send an .au file
to showaudio and the sym link to /dev/audio
works as the .au plays fine. I have checked
to make sure that the audio file is correct and
made sure that the sounds are not commented
out and that the path to the sounds is correct.
The only difference that I can see between the
two versions is in 1.4.5.0, there is no * before
each of the sound entries and in the new 1.4.5.55N6,
there is a * in front of each sound entry. Could the
* be the problem, or is there a bug in N6 ?
