though by default we should have a standard, the ones included with the Source
have a size of 64x64, 128x128, 192x192 and solid colors are 2x2

so let's stay with this format:

Textures: 64x64, 128x128, 192x192    (255 colors or less) 

Solid Colors:  2x2

Pictures:  320x200   (255 or less colors)   xpm's 
              800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024   (255 or less colors) jpeg's  (50%
              quality)
