Eterm is your best bet!  Eterm DR-0.8-pre (latest I think) is able to do
true transparent (a bit buggy) and is ablt to remove those pesky lines at
the border ( -x, --borderless : force Eterm to have no borders) and it
becomes a "true" transparent *term.
For screenshots of it in action visit my site:

and you'll see the two Eterms at the top with the same pixmap as the root:
	Eterm -g 137x5+0+0 -P ~/.Eterm/pix/blue-tile.xpm -x -f grey60 \
	-L 500 -T Console -n Console -C &

I just looked at E's site and it appears they only really have a front
page and not E wm or Eterm to access, nor does Freshmeat have it on their
site.  Maybe try sunsite (?), I'll put it on my ftp server if you are
interested - same addie, just with ftp.the-site....
