Patching AF 1.4.5 to 1.4.5.3

Hey,

I realize that this is a very newbie question but I have no idea how to patch
my current AF 1.4.5 to 1.4.5.3
I downloaded the patch files (1450-to-1451 and 1451-to-1453) but I have no idea
on how to patch the source to the new version.  I think it involves 
using diff but am I supposed to run all the diff commands that are in the patch
files? There has to be an easier way.  Thanks for any tips,
