I was actually refering to this exact problem in my
mail that initiated the discussion. And, yes, I do
refer to it as a problem. I think people using the
1.6 are falling too far behind. I do not think 
anybody is even capable of answering questions about
that version anymore. I would propose to fix bugs that
we know about at the moment and release a new stable.
This is not about marketing and schedule, this is
a matter of convinience. At the moment it feels more
and more like if there are two window managers in
AfterStep behaving completely different.
