Sort of fixed.
I tried it with 2 different tests:
a) xterm -geometry 1900x900 (My screen is 1280x800)
In 2.2.4 it resizes it to the size of the screen.
In CVS it opens it at the full 1900x900, expanding onto the
other desktops. OK, works as advertised :-)
b) ImageMagick's display utility, displaying a 1632x1224 JPG image
In 2.2.4 it resizes the window & the displayed image inside to about
50x50.
In CVS it just resizes the window, although the displayed image is still
in its original size and the display utility's pager now works OK
I've studied this issue a bit more. If I try to maximize the window at
this point then it will revert back to 2.2.4's behaviour. That is, instead
of maximizing it will shrink itself to some very tiny size.
I now believe that the original "window bigger than screen" issue is
actually fixed (The xterm case proves it is working right). The display
utility's seems to be something different altogether.
It seems that the app asks for its own geometry (If I run with manual
window placement I can see it resized itself to occupy the full physical
screen wich is allright) but then when I "place" it by clicking the icon
is when it erroneously resizes. I'll try & get a log of the AS debug
messages generated when this happens.

Thank you for fixing these, I'm 4 1/2 weeks away from finishing my CS
degree so I'm a bit swamped with work right now. Will keep working on the
debugging though ;-)
