[As-users] 2.0 wont run Sort of

After doing a cvs update
./configure --Prefix=/usr/local
make
su root
make install

AfterStep will work for the user that compiled it but not as any other
user including root.
So far i haven't found any error messages either 
All the files in /usr/local/bin & /usr/local/share are owned by root

It would be nice if everything went into /usr/local/AfterStep , but
.......
(--Prefix=/usr/local/AfterStep)??
