Console? I don't start X from the console, Solaris does it for me. The
Workstation boots up in X.

to tell me).

When AfterSTep starts - the first message it prints to the console is:
Detected colordepth is ##bpp.
That tells you what colordepth you are running at. So choose base file
with same colordepth number.
This misfeature is removed from future relases - there 'll be just one
base file.
