New AS Install Won't Work

Hello all. I recently installed AfterStep onto my computer. For some  
strange reason I deleted it right after I installed it. Then I  
installed it again. I am using the CVS-stable from about 3 days ago. X  
works fine with twm. Anybody can help me figure out what the deal is  
and what could cause an install-uninstall-install to change things?  
Thanks. Also, I ran AfterStep once after the first install and it  
worked fine. Here is the inital run and following that is the second
