If you can not find the file on the website then it should also be on
your system in
/usr/doc/AfterStep-1.7.142/README.RedHat

I am running AS with RedHat 6.2 at the moment.  How are you tring to run
afterstep, from gnome or via a ~/.xsession, ~/.Xclients file and what
error do you get?
