I'd like to state for the record that I althou I help developing AS I don't
have much experience as sys admin in general, and ML hosting especially.
So I've gone through all this thread and considered all the different opinions
and pieces of information voiced here. It's all very interesting and
educational.
My understanding is that if we want to have ML made by strict rules of better
sys-administration - we should not add as-users into Replay-To. Ok, fine.
BUt just how much justified this is, and do we really have to play by every
rule at all costs? I mean face it - we do not have much traffic here ( which is
good since it does not distract developers from their late afternoon sleep), so
even if somebody posts a message that makes you wondering about what kind of
system person is running - there is no harm whatsoever in asking it on the
list, and not sending private message. Really I can't think of a reason to send
person private message based on any communication from the list, except for
trying to get a date, which is problematic as well, since I don't know sex,
merital status etc. of the other party :).
On the other hand we have an inconvinience of having to type in ML address
manually or hitting Reply To All and getting double the e-mail we should.
I mean I'm lazy, and it really irritates me to have to type 22 characters of ML
address.
I know that it is elegant this way and is by the rules, and I can appreciate
it, but aren't we sucrificing too much for the elegantness? I mean applyed to
this particular list in it's today's state I'm more inclined to think about it
as of annoyance more then as of the feature.

Again we aren't hosting "Are you lonely Tonight?" mailing list here.
There should not be any need for anybody to send private messages as a replay
to posting on the list. Send you mail and we all'll anjoy reading it :)

Yes, evidently you do. I personally really appreciate you taking you time to
explain all that. Nice to see smart ppl around :)
So at the end I personal vote based on carefull consideration of all the facts
and posts is: Set Replay-To to as-users@afterstep.org !!!
It may not look nice on your resume, and may hurt your feelings, but it will
save us - lazy bums lots of troubles :)
Cheers
