I don't know as you can actually change the _color_, but you can make it
transparent by starting aterm with the commandline option
-trsb. According to the man page, the resource would be transpscrollbar.

Hmmm. That is odd. My transparent aterms don't have a problem adopting
the wallpaper when it changes or when I move the aterm across desks with
the pager. How is your background image being
handled? asetroot/pager? XV? Maybe Sasha has a clue here?
My problem with aterm 0.3.6 is that whenever I change themes (or restart
the session, which I believe is the real culprit), any transparent or
tinted aterms crash and disappear. The ones with a solid background are
robust, however.

I use a shading of 65 and a fading of 50.
