Thanks for the help, everyone. I won't really have access to the
machine until Monday, so I'll have to wait until then to try more (I
could do it through telnet, but I've got better things to do with my
weekend :)
I realized that the FAQ was out of date, and I probably did sound a
bit cranky. The fact is, I was. It was really late at night :) I
didn't mean to be.
At least everything (but JPEG) seemed to compile correctly, the only
problem seemed to be with libXpm. That should be solved with the
instructions Readme.Solaris file.
The configure script did find the JPEG library, but the JPEG sources
didn't compile (gcc was telling me about a parse error before some
'->'. Rather than deal with it I thought I'd just get something
built, so I turned JPEG off. I need the space, so I'd like to get it
on the future.).
Regarding this:

Hmm. That's a bit irritating. I run Mac OS X Server at home, and on
the other machine I keep my home directory set up as Applications/,
Documents/, Library/, and so on (it just feels like home). Having a
GNUstep/Library/ and a Library/ is a little annoying :P
I can't remember exactly right now, but there's some talk in the FAQ
about creating my own ~/usr/local, ~/etc. Is this needed anymore? I
couldn't think of anything that should be installed in those
directories (everything seems to be in ~/bin). That would make sense
if apps were part of the distribution.
Thanks,
Sarwat.
