Ignore this if you've already gotten a response, but I didn't see a response
posted to the list, so here you are:
Here's my entry that works great for quake3:
*Wharf "q3a" q3a.xpm Exec "-" aterm -tint blue -e /root/scripts/startq3
and the script (startq3) that it calls:
cd /usr/local/games/q3test
./linuxquake3 +set r_glDriver libMesaVoodooGL.so.3.1
For some reason q3 didn't want to start correctly unless I was in the
correct directory. By launching the script, you're just changing the
directory temporarily, with very little (read: not noticeable) overhead.
You could also look into the equivalents to GameSpy, x11spy or XQF
(http://www.linuxgames.com/xqf/). You will probably also want to look at
http://www.linuxquake.com/ and http://www.planetquake.com/linux/.
