You can't just replace the settings for the 800x600 with anything, there's
a whole system to it. I would suggest commenting everything out that
doesn't say 1024x768, and see if X will start. Better yet, pipe the
command to a file (startx > textfile 2>&1) and check the output of the
file. There should be a ** next to every mode that _should_ work.
