X/AS hangs upon suspend/resume on a Linux laptop

CITI never sleeps...  :-)  Nice to see people
working around the globe around the clock.  For
instance, I'm fighting X manager which hangs upon
resume on my Dell Inspiron 7000, RedHat 5.2.
I enabled APM and everything, and Linux resumes
allright from a console (virtual terminal too),
yet hangs under AS after suspend-resume.  Any
ideas why/cures?
