OT ? BitchX & aterm ?

I'm just getting started into irc.  Can someone tell me why when I start
BitchX from the wharf with the command line of:

*Wharf BitchX bitch52.xpm Exec "BitchX" aterm -bg black -fg white -fn
7x14bold -e BitchX &	

I get this nasty looking screen that probably says BitchX, but you've
really got to stretch your imagination to read it.
