I'm also having a bit of trouble with this - it starts up okay (autohide
is not enabled) but if there are no windows it disappears - this is
normal, but if I start up another window it doesn't reappear.  It doesn't
seem to like autohide either - I jumped from v1.7.64 to 68 and tried to
use it just to see what it was like but with either version it just
appeared for a split second then disappeared with the error about a
segmentation fault.
