In your case, it appeared to be coming from gpm.  This means that your
mouse is configured to use /dev/cua0 as opposed to /dev/ttyS0.  They're
the same port.  So, re-configure your mouse.  

This is actually a generic Linux question, and so is off-topic for the
list.  Check the Red Hat pages/lists for more info.
