I have tried rt instead of aterm, as well. Unfortunately rt does not
accept msgs from /dev/console (it hangs X). rt also does not update
as soon as I change the desk.
In a 128Mb AMD/K6 (tjconsole is the name of aterm fitted t othe root
window).
ps -ux tjconsole
tjpp 1309 0.0 0.4 1196 604 ? S 11:56 0:00 sh /usr/bin/tjconsole
tjpp 1311 0.0 0.4 1192 600 ? S 11:56 0:00 sh /usr/bin/tjconsole
tjpp 1313 0.0 0.4 1192 600 ? S 11:56 0:00 sh /usr/bin/tjconsole
