Well, yes & no.  I suspect that you'll have to go looking in the MkLinux
or LinuxPPC support areas for this: sounds like some sort of problem with
your X distro.

Alternatively, you could buy yourself a Kensington mouse ("MouseInABox");
here, these are about C$20, and they have two buttons.  You'd be able to
get all three buttons by using a ChordMiddle setting.
