Two suggestions to the AS developers:
1) fixed focus on pager: if some window is open on other desk, the
focus stays in the current one. I think this behaviour is more coherent
with the Viewport and other pager stuff.
2) I think this one is harder: SwallowIcon as, for instance, licq. The
licq icon informs if there are messages coming, etc..
