Congratulations! AfterStep now has it's own terminal - aterm.
Here is the appindex record from freshmeat:

aterm ( AfterStep term ) is xterm replacement, based on rxvt
v.2.4.8
it includes such features as NeXT style scrollbar, resource
efficient 
pseudo-transparency, with option of color tinting. It
understands
root background changes by AfterStep Pager and Esetroot. 
The primary goal of aterm is to provide cool visual features
without resource consumption. Planned is optional integration
with
AfterStep's libasimage for wider image format support.

aterm was created with AfterStep user in mind, but can also be
used 
anywhere as far as it is not tied to any libs.
