Desktop backgrounds

Where does Afterstep store what the background xpm (root window) is?
I usually use xv or ee or Esetroot to set my root window cause they
support using jpg's but whenever I restart Afterstep I lose that
setting it it reverts back to the last one that I chose through the
start menu?

Any help would be appreciated.
