./configure errors with ALL programs.....help me please???

Hi there.

whenever i type ./configure to "configure" a program i have got, it keeps
giving me the following errors...can anyone ashed light on this??



checking for gcc...gcc
Checking whether C compiler (gcc) is working...no
configure: error: initialisation or configuration problem - C compiler
cannot create executables.


what am i doing wrong?? I have gcc installed according to RPM / glint..so
whassup??
