pager question

I'm enjoying my new afterstep install, but I have a question
about the pager.  Right now each one has four blocks, is there a
way to make one of them have only a single block?  For example:

Current:    --------
                 |xx|xx|xx|xx|
                 |xx|xx|xx|xx|
                 --------
Where each "x" represents a virtual screen in an individual
pager.

What I want is: --------
                         |X|xx|xx|xx|
                         |   |xx|xx|xx|
                         --------
In this case I would want the first pager to have only one
"virtual" screen.
I hope this makes sense, and I apologize for the terrible art.
Is there any documentation for how to configure a pager?
