close or kill?

Hi!

I am wondering what command is sent to the windows
when you quit AS and X? Is it like "close" or
more like "kill"? I have an impression that it
is the second one...

Is WM responsible for sending this event?
Could it send first a "close" event and after
a short delay - kill the windows?

I am sorry in advance for not looking into the
source :-(
