You can try two alternatives:
1) nxterm -font Name_of_the_font
Name_of_the_font: choose one using xfontsel, kfontmanager, etc..
2) edit .Xdefaults and include the line
nxterm*font: Name_of_the_font
Then
xrdb .Xdefaults
to update the database. Using this way, you should just type nxterm.
I have used the 9x15 font in a 1240x928 display.
