"transparent" windows

I seem to be having a hard time getting a "transparent" window.  I can get
teh handles gone and everything but there seems to still be a dark 3 or so
pixel line surrounding the window.

I have heard that you can reduce that to as little as one pixel and I was
hoping someone could please tell me.
