afterstep: command not found

Hi Afterstep learned ppl :)
    I am having a slight problem with installation. I just downloaded
the latest afterstep, and during installation, I didnt notice any
problems, but the make may have reported an error, I missed it.... but,
after putting "afterstep" in my .xinitrc, I keep getting the error
"afterstep: command not found" should this be a binary? why didnt the
binary come out with everything else?

    Your help would be much, MUCH liked :)
