Now, I was using the same thing but I found a few things that I don't like
all that much with the RedHat release. Granted, this time around RedHat is
using the real AfterStep, just slightly older. I have noticed a few problems
with it though...
1. You can't remove it unless you remove AnotherLevel as well because it has
a dependency to it.
2. Removing those two things doesn't exactly get you out of the woods yet.
3. There's also a WMConfig application installed that customizes everything
for you upon install. This will keep the menus the same. In other words,
they do install AS but it's a bastardized version of it.
4. When you uninstall AS and AnotherLevel, try installing 1.455N6....it'll
go in but you'll notice the bastardized menu structure from the previous
version. Now, you can hunt down all of your local directories with AS stuff
in it and remove/replace it but it'll probably be easier to do what I did.
When you install RedHat 5.1, you can customize what it loads and what it
doesn't. I just told it to leave out AS, AnotherLevel, and the WMConfig. By
doing this I had to do a little more work, but I had absolutely NO doubt as
to what was configuring my AfterStep (me). It took a little longer to get it
up completely, but now it's exactly as I want it and I didn't have any
problems with installing the 1.455N6 version of AS. This is just a thought,
not saying this is the best/easiest way of doing it... just how I did it.
