Andrew, I did not want to insult anyone. I am merely
trying to strike a conversation here. I am sorry
if I managed to put you or anybody else off.
However...

Oh, fine. So, I spared some time and browse through
message archives of afterstep-dev going as far as
April 1997 where they discuss 1.0pre. Now, I did not
find there any reasonable explanation for the startmenu
directory hierarchy, uh, wait, the subject as such was
never discussed even! Strange... Oh, well, maybe you had
a private discussion. So, I went and re-read the FAQ
as you kindly suggested. Now, after doing all this, could
you explain why it was done this way and how it can benefit
me, please?
And don't say "compatibility with GNU project". It does
not say anything. Do they really force everybody to
take this particular approach to configuring the system?
Euh, by the way, we are not talking ~/G/L/A hierarchy.
This is about the startmenu directory hierarchy.
And, yes, I do know how to get around it. Do you think
I wouldn't downgrade to 1.0 if I did not?
