I'm not certain that what I will suggest is the best way but it works for
me...  The startmenu can be sorted either by date (last modified) or
alphabetically.  I chose the alphasort and so renamed my directories
accordingly.  i.e. Since I didn't like my Applications at the start, I
called it Programs which bumped it a ways down the list.  I also renamed a
few others such as Update, Terminals, Restart, Internet and Games (not in
alphabetical order here) which showed up in the order that I desired.
