Xiterm bug?

I've eliminated from my system the xiterms that come with AS 1.4.5. The
problem was that all non-root users had the following problem:
        The backspace key didn't work. Is this a bug or did I do something
wrong? It's not very importante at this moment, because I don't need what
the xiterms offer me, but I'm very currious.
