Look updating time grows

I don't know about restart, but every time I reload the look, the time it 
takes increases by 10 or 11 seconds. Eventually, it gets rather painful 
to sit and wait for, so I end up restarting X. This may happen when 
restarting AS as well, I'm not sure, but it doesn't make much sense for 
it to.
