Thanks to all for your help.

<SOLVED>
It appears that there is no run-time control of the animation speed of
Wharf. It is either off or on.

However, it can be controlled when Wharf is compiled. In the latest
release, 'configure' prompts you for the values of the number of animation
frames and the delay between them (in the 'look' section). In the
previous versions, they were simply #defines in the source code that you
had to set.

Either way, leaving the number of frames at 5 (Default), and reducing the
delay between frames from 5 to 1, and then rebuilding Wharf, produced the
desired result.
(Maybe this default should be reduced in the distribution, as other people
indicated they simply turned the animation off because it was so slow)

<Behaviour change>
Since I had installed from RPMs, I had to get the source code to rebuild
Wharf. When I got the 1.5pre6 version and rebuilt it, I noticed that
Wharf didn't behave the same. Specifically,

- All the entries were reversed. i.e. The old Wharf had entries like
	1	2	3	4
but the new Wharf displayed them as
	4	3	2	1
The same thing happened with Folder entries in the Wharf. This isn't a
problem, and is easily changed, as long as it was intended change.

- The Pager no longer fits in a Wharf button. It appears to overflow
outside of its button, overwriting part of the button beside it. I'd have
to classify this as a bug (or maybe a bad/incorrect default setting?)

- asmail appears to now be correctly centred in its button. Previously,
it was shifted to the upper left corner of its button.

Now, in all honesty, I may have done something invalid. All I did was
build the 1.5pre6 version of Wharf, and used it with the rest of my
1.4.5.3 RPM version of Afterstep. I can't see that this would cause
problems, but it might. Eventually, I built the 1.4.5.0 version of Wharf,
restoring the behaviour back to the way it was.
